The earliest reference to acupuncture is the Linh Khu (5th – 3rd century BC), which mentions some of the basics of acupuncture theory and technique. In 1946, the International Acupuncture Society and the French Acupuncture Institute were founded by the late Dr. Roger de la Fuye, president of the two associations and the director of the Institute. In the late 70s, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced the appointment of acupunture to treat 45 symptoms and diseases. This drug-free treatment has been internationalized; acupuncture is now available in 140 countries across 5 continents.

Many patients misunderstood that acupuncture impact straight to the nervous system. Im reality, acupuncture and acupressure is the impact on the acupuncture point and the whole system. Unlike the “tangible” element of the nervous system and the circulatory system, the acupuncture points and systems are “invisible” – the signaling aggregate of psychophysical signs.

So far, scientists have different opinions, even contradicts to each other, in explaining the nature of the structure, function, and behavior of the acupuncture system and the mechanism of its action. However, there is a fundamental consensus: affirmative value of acupuncture in the prevention, cure, anesthesia, and recognition at different angles that to effectively perform acupuncture, the practitioner must perform under the guideline of the basic understanding of the system of acupuncture spots.

Please refer to the basis of acupuncture in Section 2 – Chapter 1 “The General Acupuncture” book.
